The TaylorMade M4 Driver Offers More Forgiveness & Accuracy
The TaylorMade M4 driver is a significant upgrade of last year’s M2. The M4 offers more forgiveness in a lighter overall package. The M4 is about 15 grams lighter than the M3, which includes a face that weighs 17 percent less than the face on last year's M2.
The M4 incorporates the unique “Twist Face” design which presents a revolutionary new face curvature with a corrective face angle that is engineered to reduce side spin and deliver straighter shots. By providing more loft in the high-toe and less loft in the low-heel, this groundbreaking technology produces more consistent side spin in the areas where golfers commonly miss-hit.
The M4 driver also is made with TaylorMade’s “Hammerhead” slot design behind the face and in the sole. This creates a massive sweet spot that pushes the limit of ballspeed to produce distance and forgiveness across the entire face. The result is a powerful and forgiving driver that delivers exceptional sound and feel.
Geocoustic technology utilizes advanced sole-shaping techniques to deliver a solid and explosive sound with exceptional feel.
The M4 features a larger but lighter and forgiving face, and it increases that forgiveness while actually slightly reducing the front-to-back appearance at address. A heel-weighted, slice-fighting D-Type is also available.
The D-Type offers 20 more yards left bias compared to the standard M4. When you move the center of gravity (CG) to the heel, no matter where you hit it, it has more draw.
The M4 drivers come in 9.5°, 10.5°, and 12° with an adjustable hosel that changes loft by plus/minus two degrees. The D-Type comes in 10.5° and 12°.
The rest of the line includes the M4 fairway wood and M4 Rescue hybrid which offer the same approach to increasing forgiveness through the use of carbon fiber sections and pushing the saved weight to the rear of the club. By splitting the rear weight pad into two sections, that raises the moment of inertia (MOI) by 12 percent while still keeping the CG low to control spin. The M4 fairway wood and hybrid also benefit from an improved sole channel for better ball speed performance across the face, especially on low-face impacts.
TaylorMade’s new M4 fairway delivers straight distance, so you can split fairways and stick pins. The low-profile face on the M4 fairway woods come in 15°, 16.5°, 18°, 21° and 24°. Also available will be a slightly deeper face M4 Tour fairway, which features a 156cc head versus the standard M4 fairway's head size of 175cc.
The M4 Rescue hybrid has been designed with split internal weights that increase forgiveness and promotes more ballspeed across the face, helping golfers find the center cut with greater consistency. Speed Pocket technology preserves ballspeed on low-face shots, providing added forgiveness and consistent distance.
