Rogue Pro - A Players Iron with Distance Enhancing Technology

The new Callaway Rogue Pro Irons provide the look and feel of a players iron with distance technology that embodies the Rogue philosophy to develop new ways to extract maximum performance from a golf club. These irons feature a premium multi-material construction, combining new technologies with previous Callaway technological advancements. By pushing to reach outstanding performance levels, they have created the best combination of distance, accuracy and playability ever in a Callaway players iron.

Rogue Pro caters to the preferences of better players with a compact head, thin topline, thin sole, shallow cavity and minimal offset, to increase workability, trajectory control and impact feedback. The lofts are slightly weaker than Rogue Standard.

Rogue irons combine 360 Face Cup technology with Variable Face Thickness (VFT) to expand the portion of the face that delivers faster ball speeds. Face Cup employs a shallow, flexible rim around the perimeter of the face, which flexes and releases at impact to increase ball speed. VFT also influences how the face itself flexes, delivering more ball speed on off-center hits. The combination of these two technologies promotes ball speed which delivers added distance.

Tungsten weighting allows Callaway to position the center of gravity (CG) in each of the long irons with precision, promoting optimum launch and control at each specific loft. Tungsten, twice as heavy as steel, concentrates significant weight into a small space in the form of an intricately shaped component, key to precisely controlling CG location.

In the new Callaway Rogue Pro Irons, the tungsten-infused Internal Standing Wave (ISW) allows for even more precision control over CG location. In simple terms, ISW is a flat, asymmetrically shaped piece of metal. In this case, it consists of a specially shaped piece of Metal-Injected Molding (MIM) tungsten, allowing Callaway to position a large amount of weight in a small space.

MIM tungsten allows a unique combination of size, shape and weight for the ISW to precisely position the CG location differently in each individual iron. CG is located extremely low in the long-irons to promote easier launch and high, long flight, while the short irons have it seated progressively higher as loft increases to promote a lower flight for added control, and a balance of easy launch and control in the middle-irons.

The upside of a thinner clubface is faster ball speed and more distance; the downside is excessive vibration that can generate an unpleasant sound and feel. Urethane is used to dampen vibration to improve sound and feel, but it can also greatly reduce the face’s ability to flex, lowering COR and ball speed. In Rogue irons, elastic urethane microspheres provide the sound and feel benefits of urethane without compromising COR or ball speed.
