Tour Edge Golf introduced this spring its 2017 Exotics product line; EX10 drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids.
The launch begins with the EX10 adjustable driver. It features a lighter-weight 8-1-1 titanium chassis and a Japanese TSP Beta Ti thinner face for exceptional forgiveness and distance. A 10 and 12-degree head is available with a novel hosel system that doubles adjustability options which allows players to raise or lower the loft +/- two degrees.
The 460cc head features TSP 910 Beta Ti, an exceptionally light and strong material that allows engineers to develop a larger face plate. The larger face increases the sweet spot and, combined with hexagonal variable face thickness, offers more forgiveness from more points on the face, especially in the heel and toe areas. Incredibly strong and lightweight, 8-1-1 titanium allows added weight to be strategically repositioned lower and deeper in the head for optimal launch angle and spin performance.
A substantial 19 grams is housed in the sole of the EX10 driver for impactful results in deep sole weighting. The 10-gram screw fits into a 9-gram weight pad specifically designed for a higher MOI. The interchangeable rear-center sole weight helps optimize the club’s performance based on the individual preferences of each golfer. Additional weights may be purchased as a kit or individually. The kit includes 6-gram, 12-gram and 14-gram weights to increase or decrease the swing weight.
The aerodynamics in this driver are greatly enhanced by a more sloping crown and four-speed channels on the sole. A more tapered head profile also reduces aerodynamic drag and saves weight that is redistributed in the sole to achieve optimal ball flight. The speed channels also enhance the aerodynamics of the club head and stabilize off-center hits, delivering a higher MOI.
The EX10 beta titanium fairway wood raises the level of performance with a traditional pear-shaped head, reengineered with an improved center of gravity technology for an ideal launch angle plus reduced spin. It sports an exceedingly thin TSP 910 beta titanium cup face, making it the only titanium cup face fairway wood on the market. This advanced material allows engineers to make the face thinner and stronger to create the legendary feel and power Exotics fairway woods are known for. Engineered with a new inner-cup face slot to deliver amazing flexibility and combo-brazed to the beta’s 450 SS hyper-steel body, the new face delivers enhanced distance, feel and control.
Engineers also made substantial changes to the 2017 SlipStream sole. Research showed that by lengthening the rails and making the channels between the rails shallower, minimal turf interaction was achieved. The result is maximum club speed through impact, even in thicker lies.
Increasing the heel weight improves MOI, produces less spin and produces added distance. The EX10 Beta fairway wood has lower and deeper CG than previous models accomplished with a heavier 9-gram changeable sole weight housed in a 9-gram weight pad, 18-grams of deep sole weighting. That weight is specifically located for a higher MOI which optimizes the club’s performance. The sole weight screw is adjustable and additional weights can be purchased as a kit or individually. The kit includes 6-gram, 11-gram and 14-gram weights to increase or decrease the swing weight. The EX10 Beta fairway wood is available in 13, 15, and 16.5, 18, and 21-degree heads.
