Honma of Sakata, Japan recently introduced its new game-improvement XP-1 product line. Always designed with beauty in mind, the company wanted to bring their legendary craftsmanship to a much larger range of golfers — not just the more skilled players. The full line of products includes drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons for both men and women. This month, we will focus on irons.
The XP-1 irons are beautifully crafted and precisely engineered to improve performance. They incorporate cast construction and a thinner topline than most game improvement clubs. XP-1 irons feature a hybrid construction with low CGs and fast faces to create longer carry distances. The hollow long irons (4-7) contain tungsten placed low and deep in the sole for a higher launch launch and stability on mishits. The short irons (8-SW) have a deep pocket cavity which replaces the tungsten. A wider sole along with the tungsten and pocket cavity deliver added forgiveness and straighter distance throughout the set.
“We are thrilled to bring the many decades of club-making knowledge and shaping talent of Honma’s master craftsmen to game-improvement golfers with XP-1. This product line is incredibly beautiful and exceptionally playable and will help golfers with a wide range of skill levels enjoy the game even more,” said Honma’s Vice President of Global Product, Chris McGinley.
