At their heart, Callaway believes they live by a maverick spirit, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and never settling until they have established a completely new standard for distance and performance. They continue to relentlessly develop ball speed technologies that are designed to help golfers hit their irons farther than ever before.
Last year, Callaway introduced artificial intelligence for the first time in club development with flash face technology in the Epic Flash driver. Since then, the company substantially increased investment in super computing, A.I., and machine learning. All of these meaningful advancements and applications allowed Callaway to use A.I. for the first time ever in an iron.
Mavrik irons feature a new flash face cup to create a sophisticated and specific face architecture for every loft, an engineering feat never before seen in the golf industry. By implementing a different architecture for each iron, Callaway believes they have created a significant boost in ball speed and increased spin robustness off of every club in the set. Robustness is a term they use to describe how little variation in performance there is from your best shots to other shots that are not hit as solidly. Ball speed is further enhanced by a face cup that flexes and releases at impact on center and off-center hits.
These irons feature Callaway’s proprietary urethane microspheres, a technology meant to create a superior feel and speed. Over one million microspheres are strategically placed into each clubhead to absorb unwanted vibration while maximizing COR. This design aims to provide a pure feel and consistent distance performance throughout the set.
The custom tungsten-infused weights in each iron position the CG with precision while still maintaining ball speed in the flash face cup. This promotes optimum launch and ball flight through the set. A.I. also enables Callaway to enhance the performance characteristics of each iron face. In the long irons, the faces are designed for launch and speed, while in the mid-irons the faces are engineered for speed and spin consistency. In the short irons, the faces are optimized for spin and precision to promote pinpoint shot-making.
Mavrik irons appeal to a wide range of players. In addition to the standard set, the line also features Mavrik Pro and Max versions. The Mavrik Pro irons feature a more compact head shape, flatter lie angle and thinner topline that better players prefer for workability and control. Max irons are built for total distance with a larger body and a deeper CG for increased forgiveness and easy launch. The combination of innovative ball speed technologies in the face and a high MOI construction promote long distance through the bag.
