Better fit, better game

The Club Champion Way Is Proven

If the hundreds of thousands of appointments we’ve conducted in recent years don’t tell the story, our third-party studies do. Golf Digest, GOLF Magazine, Golfweek and other publications have tested our fitting and building processes to see the improved performance for themselves. The data and feedback for those experiences are documented below.

Golf Digest selected nine golfers to get their first club fitting and undergo a comprehensive full bag analysis by Club Champion.

Golf Digest selected nine golfers to get their first club fitting and undergo a comprehensive full bag analysis by Club Champion. The players then charted each round they played after the fitting using the GolfLogix smartphone app. Most of the golfers in the test showed dramatic, almost freakish improvements in distance.

The Results:

  • Testers on average gained 21 yards off the tee.
  • Golfers gained an average of 13 yards with their irons.
  • Participants lowered their scores by as much as six strokes per round.

“Andrew Burdick, a 6-handicapper, gained 29 yards with his new driver.”
Golf Digest

“Joe Zachmann improved his average score from 95 to 89 and said, ‘To see how many changes they made to my clubs, I have such an appreciation for the science of clubfitting.’”
Golf Digest

According to a GOLF Magazine test conducted with Club Champion, such handicap-smashing results are possible.

If a brand new set of clubs meant that you’d drive the ball 20 yards longer and drop 10 strokes, would you reach for your credit card? According to a GOLF Magazine test conducted with Club Champion, such handicap-smashing results are possible.

GOLF Magazine had seven players custom-fit for brand-new sets, from driver to putter. Club Champion’s fitters used the TrackMan launch monitor to measure full swings. Each tester played at least three rounds with their old clubs and new custom-fit clubs. All shots were recorded using Sky Golf’s SkyCaddie Linx GT rangefinder.

The results? Fitting matters. Based on data from the TrackMan, SAM PuttLab and SkyCaddies, along with tester interviews, it’s clear that correctly matched clubs can help golfers of all kinds.

KEY FINDINGS:

  • Golfers gained an average of 19 yards off the tee on the course and 22 yards in the hitting bay as seen on TrackMan.
  • On the course, testers picked up 13 yards on average with their new 6-iron and 15 yards in the Club Champion hitting bay.
  • The scoring average with the new, fitted sets was three shots per round lower than with their old clubs.
  • Many players think they aren’t good enough to be custom fit. But higher-handicappers saw up to 25 more yards with drivers and woods, and one shaved 10 strokes per round.

“You actually can buy a better game with properly fit clubs.”
GOLF Magazine

According to a GOLF Magazine test conducted with Club Champion, such handicap-smashing results are possible.

In January 2020, Golfweek and Club Champion teamed up to determine if a club fitting was able to improve a golfer’s game. Golfers were randomly selected from a social media posting. Players varied by handicap and had equipment that was 3-6 years old. Below are the results from three of the fittings.
